Career Preview Days
Look for Career Preview Days again in the Fall of 2010!
What is Career Preview Days?
Information for Students:
Career Preview Days offers students a unique opportunity to gain valuable insight into their field of interest. As a CPD participant, you will be connected with an Iowa State Alumnus working in a position in which you indicate an interest. A Student Alumni Leadership Council Ambassador will connect you with an alumnus and their contact information. You can then contact them and set up a shadow that works best for both your schedule as well as the host's. You will be given a chance to “shadow” this employee as he or she completes his/her typical tasks and ask any questions you have about this career opportunity. Conversely, if you wish to visit a particular business, we will attempt to arrange this as well.
Prior to your job shadow you will receive information on how to prepare for your shadow, pointers on how to prepare, what to expect, questions to ask, how to network, and how to prepare for the workforce while still in college.
Career Preview Days is open to any SAA member in all majors and grade levels. Your job shadow will take place any time throughout the spring semester. Your actual shadow date and time will depend on both your schedule as well as the host's.
As soon as your application is recieved we will begin the connection process between students and alumni.
Benefits to Students:
* Provide an opportunity to get “hands-on” experience in your field of study
* Gain knowledge on what you could be doing upon graduation
* Gain insight to your interest in a particular real-world career

Information for Hosts:
Career Previews Days is a job shadowing program that offers Iowa State students the opportunity to take an inside look at the day to day operations within a specified career field. Participants can interact with professionals, discover current and future trends within the field, ask questions and tour business facilities for a full or half day. This “hands on” opportunity helps students determine if they are seeking a career field that best suits their interest area.
Student participants range in class level from freshman to senior. Freshman and sophomores are utilizing this opportunity for career exploration.
