ISU-SALC

How it all got started...
In 1973, the Student Alumni Association, otherwise known as SAA, was formed. An extension of Iowa State's Alumni Association, the student leadership group developed innovative ways in which to remember past, present, and prospective students.

An Executive Committee oversaw the original group, which consisted anywhere from 100-200 students and over a dozen committees.

In the spring of 2000, SAA became known as the membership/benefits organization, and the student leadership committee changed its name to the Student Alumni Leadership Council, or SALC.

Currently, more than 70 students serve on five committees as SALC continues to connect and involve students with Iowa State University through learning and leadership opportunities, events, services and Iowa State traditions, while fostering a sense of loyalty and pride.

SALC hopes to strengthen relationships with other on-campus organizations as well as present and future alumni by providing quality leadership experiences and programs. Upon graduating, the Alumni Association hopes the students of SAA and SALC will become contributing alumni, which requires involvement and dedication to the university.
